Ladies and Gentlemen Rock is back. Welcome PACIFICA !!!

1 Who make up the band and what does each one in the band do?

Martina: Hello, the band is made up of Martina and Ines (Inu). In the band, Inu plays the guitar and I play the bass.
Ines: We both compose and sing and we also have a drummer named Wenses
Martina: Wenseslao, whom we love very much..

2. Where are they from?
Martina: We are from Buenos Aires, Argentina

3. How did you come to form the band and what musical training and experience have you had previously?

Inu: We met on Instagram, a follower we have in common, told us that we should collaborate and we decided to get together, so Martina came to my house and we recorded 12:51 of the band THE STROKES that day and the rest is history.

4 How do you connect with the group name, does it really reflect your approach to life? How did it come about?

M: The name of the group came up quite quickly because one day we said “che” let’s play and that same day we got a message saying if we wanted a show in 2 weeks
I: We need a quick name and I have a guitar that is a Yamaha “Pacifica” model and Martu came up with the idea of calling us Pacifica, I loved it and that’s how we stayed
M: It is an esdrújula word,
I: It’s esdrújula, I like the P, but well, it has nothing to do with the meaning of “Peace”

5 The sound of the band retains much of the Garage sound of the 70’s and a mix of Britpop or shoegazer and a great brand of traditional Argentine rock.

M: Actually we met because of our mutual liking for the band THE STROKES
I: And since we didn’t know each other very well at the beginning, we got together a lot through our musical tastes, so that’s how that sound obviously arose, which is still not very defined but there we are finding it.

6 What makes them bond with that type of sonority so atypical for young people their age? And what were your first connections with rock and its instruments?

I: My first connection with rock and music in general was to start playing guitar when I was 12 years old because we always had guitars at home because of my brother and my father, and rock came to me a little later and blew my mind. head.

M: Ever since I entered high school, I liked THE BEATLES, I liked rock and at one point in my third year I said, well I want to make music and I didn’t know anyone who played bass and I said I’m going to play bass and well .

7 Despite making a rock format they have remained without a stable battery and without so many effects on the guitar, is it something they worked on purpose or do they plan to form a power trio and enhance effects in their sound in the future, thinking that their latest songs like Drummer boy are very powerful and rockers?

M: Yes. The song Drummer boy came about because we were looking for a drummer and it was a difficult search, so we dedicated a song to our future drummer
I: And we had that “Full Circle” moment where we played Drummer boy with our drummer “Wenses” and now we’re a power trio.

8 Along with the massiveness of the Internet, they have been projected traveling, for example, to the United States and especially New York, the place where many of the bands that have influenced them were developed. Is it important for you to try to travel to show your proposal?

I: It is very important for us to travel and show our music to all kinds of countries, everywhere.
M: We like to play in Argentina but we would like to expand further.
I: totally

9. How did you start traveling and how was the planning for this? Did you have to sacrifice something to achieve it?

M: The new year of 2022 there was a New Year’s concert by THE STROKES and a Mr. in common, gave us tickets to go see them and at that time we knew each other very little, we had met I think 3 times in total and I told him I said “Inu let’s go to New York” and she said “No”
I: “It will not be expensive, I have a job.
M: So I told him, “let’s do it, let’s do a ‘Buy me a coffee’, let’s raise money.” We raised a lot of money and with the help of our families and savings we were able to leave
I: So that happened, I quit my job (laughs). At first we were going to stay 2 weeks
M: And we got a show
I: We got a show and in the end we stayed almost a month and we played 3 shows and it was great
M: It was great, we caught COVID from everything
I: We met a lot of people… Great.

10 What funny situations did you experience on your travels?

M: One of the things that stood out about our trip was the number of people we met, people of all kinds, especially in New York many different cultures come together
I: Very cool people who did us favors because they liked what we did, it was a wonderful experience and we even slept at the homes of people who followed us on social networks.
M: It was very good

11 What unpleasant situations did they experience?

M: Unpleasant situations I think we didn’t have many I think the worst….
I: Except COVID
M: It was COVID catching us, one thing that caught us quite off guard
I: I hit myself very hard
M: Yes, it’s very funny because I had diabetes, I isolated myself a lot in the pandemic and I took care of myself so that COVID doesn’t catch me because I thought it was going to be very bad for me and in the end I was asymptomatic.
I: I didn’t have any symptoms and I got everything
M: All the symptoms.

12 Could you notice the difference in the mentality and reception of the people or their attitude being from other places and another culture regarding your show or is it the same as in Argentina?

M: In Argentina, the public is always different, because people agitate more and it is a very different culture, not only in our shows, but in all the shows, but nevertheless both have their good things. In New York, not only people from New York came to see us, but also people from other countries and people who were around there, and both experiences were very pleasant but quite different.

13 What idea or message do you carry with your music, what do you want to tell the world?
I: We want to have fun, have a good time, play, rock and travel. That’s what we want to do with our music.

14 How do your families feel about your band activity, support or opinions?
I: We are lucky that our families support us a lot, in all
M: If we are very grateful to be in a society in which we do not feel family pressure to do something else.
I: We know it’s not very normal, so it’s great.

15 Are you thinking about forming your own family in the future and how could it be combined with your activities in the band?
M: For now we don’t have many plans about starting a family, we are quite young, but we do talk sometimes about having children and raising them together and having a band.
I: And force them to become musicians so that they are very good and better than us, but well, we are also very young
M: And on the other hand we feel that they ask us that question a lot and from a point of view it is kind of strange because we know that if we were men they would not ask us
I: No one would ask
Me: but ok

16 What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
I: To the new musicians, for me the most important thing is to be good, practice and rehearse a lot and try to grow in the networks.
M: And be yourself and have more or less something that says “this is mine and I don’t want to please someone else, but to make you like it and share it and hope that someone sees it and likes it.

17 How do you apply the option of speaking several languages in your musical career?
I: The subject of languages is difficult because we get to compose in English but we live in Argentina, it has the positive that suddenly more people from other countries can listen to us and understand the lyrics
M: It’s kind of confusing
I: It’s kind of confusing, people sometimes get a little offended. But we always see languages as something positive, a tool we have to reach more people.

18 What are your plans for the future?
M: Our plans for now are to continue composing, release a single for the time being and within the next year or this year an album and distribute it.
I: LET’S GO ON TOUR!!!
M: Uh
I: Uh

19 Where in the world would you like to play?
M: We would like to play in…
I: everywhere
M: Everywhere we can
I: All over the world, wherever you listen to us, we will be
M: That’s right, for now the plan is to do a lot of Argentina, go through South America like Chile, Brazil,
I: Mexico
M: Mexico, Ecuador and then we go to the United States and if we can go to Europe at some point, that would be great.

20 What are your social networks so that people can follow them
