FESTIVAL OF FLOWERS AND ORCHESTRAS IN ST. PETERSBURG

   This year, in St. Petersburg, the Flower Festival was held for the 14th time. Traditionally, the international holiday is held on June 12, Russia Day. The theme of this year. it was supposed to be “Traveling around the world”, with compositions on platforms reminiscent of Greece, China, Mexico, etc. We decided to “travel” across Russia. The compositions resemble the Buryat datsan, the Dymkovo toy (by the way, the winner of the popular vote), the Caucasus Mountains and columns Chersonesus. Professionals from different countries will judge the competition remotely. A gala concert “Ball of Flowers” with the participation of a symphony orchestra and opera performers will be held behind closed doors for doctors who participated in the fight against the pandemic.    For 3 days, a floristic battle, a parade of flower platforms, accompanied by models in flower costumes, artists of street theaters, flower carts with horses and retro cars decorated with flowers, with a defile of military bands takes place. The Festival ends with a concert “Ball of Flowers” and an exhibition of flower art -objects. Traffic is blocked on Nevsky Prospekt, and it becomes a frame for this action.

   Social networks hold contests among ordinary users for the best flowering balcony and flower auto-airbrushing. Three winning cars will be able to participate in the parade.

Last year, although the theme was theater, environmental awareness was drawn in the form of a whale made of plastic bottles, and on a platform from Japan, actors and musicians playing national instruments showed a scene of a tea ceremony.

   This year the picturesque ruins of the Crimean Chersonesos are buried in flowers.

   The Dymkovo toy, the Buryat datsan, Caucasian motifs and other compositions on 6 platforms delight the audience with their fragrance, bright colors and good mood. Even the cloudy, rainy St. Petersburg weather could not drown out this riot of positive emotions.
